Because of the Russian offensive and occupation of Ukraine hundreds of thousands of civilians run for safety to neighboring West countries. Among 400000 refugees who left the country around 60000 of them seek refugee in Moldova. Daily thousands of Ukrainian civilians pour to Moldova through the four border crossings.
Moldova state accepted the call of UNHCR and lifted any restrictions related to the Ukrainian refugees and assists those entered by accomodating them to school buildings and abandoned old factory premises.
16000 Ukrainian refugees seek shelter in Gagausian Authonomy State around the capital Comrad city. The city itself has a population of 50000 people so its very difficult to accommodate such a bulk of new incoming refugees
Comrad Mayor Sergei Anastasov calls for urgent food, winterization, and shelter assistance.
Sergei Anastasov said, “Despite all the possibilities of the municipality and the efforts of the local people, we have difficulty in providing support. Refugees who took shelter in schools and factory buildings urgently need food, clothing, and winter blankets.”
IBC International Blue Crescent representative Agasi Mammadli had a meeting with the mayor for logistics organization and assessment with the Mayor
IBC is planning to help at least 1000 families by the provision of food and blankets at the first stage.
