THE WOMEN AND DEMOCRACY WORKSHOP WAS HELD IN KILIS


The “Women and Democracy” Workshop, organized in cooperation with IBC and SDC, was held at Kilis 7 December University.

Filiz Serdar (UN Women Capacity Consultant); Nimet Taş (Director of Multi-Purpose Community Center Kilis-İslambey); Duygu Payam Karakuş (Head of Women Right Commission at Kilis Bar Association); Ali Çelik (Director of Violence Prevent Center Kilis); and İpek Ağcadağ Çelik, Phd. (Assistant Professor at Kilis 7 December University) have attended to the Workshop as speakers. Women’s rights and freedoms, and their acceptance in the society; raising awareness of gender equality; and duties and responsibilities of NGOs on these topics have been widely discussed during the sessions at the Workshop.

During the Workshop, gender related issues in Kilis and in Turkey, as well as case studies of persons under temporary protection have been assessed. Through these multi-perspective evaluations, experts and IBC Kilis Community Center’s beneficiaries have discussed about concrete solutions.
