INTERNATIONAL BLUE CRESCENT BECAME HOPE FOR SYRIAN ABDULRAZAK

8-year-old Abdülrazak, who faced the risk of being blinded by a bomb attack in Idlib last February, has now able to see thanks to the efforts of International Blue Crescent Foundation.

Abdülrazak Dep, who lost his ability to see with the rocket pieces that hit his eye in the bombardment while playing games in the garden of his house; had spoken to Turkey from a Swiss broadcaster after he could not get any treatment in Syria. During the broadcast, Abdulrazak  kindly asked to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that whether the president allows him to have the medical treatment in Turkey. Turkish Embassy in Bern and Ministry of Foreign Affairs took an immediate action for Abdulrazak and also called for support from civil society organizations. Oliver Stahel, a business person who watched Abdulrazak’s call from Swiss Broadcast, contacted International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation and stated that he wanted to support Abulrazak's surgery, and then the treatment process began.

The operation of Abdülrazak, who was hospitalized in a private eye hospital in Adana after all his needs were met after the identification and referral procedures in Reyhanlı, was successfully completed and the risk of becoming blind was completely eliminated.

International Blue Crescent Foundation, that contacts the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health and manages the process with the support of the Syrian Health Task Force and the Ministry of Health Kilis Provincial Directorate; will also provide psychosocial support service under the supervision of experts at the IBC Kilis Community Center to overcome the trauma of Abdülrazak.
