HOT MEAL DISTRIBUTION FOR FLOOD VICTIMS IN DERNA LIBYA

After the aftermath of the unprecedented floods that hit Derna early September and made thousands of people homeless and in desperate need of emergency assistance, IBC with the support from its donors launched an emergency Hot Meals Project for the flood affectees.

The project will be followed by other interventions in the next coming months; all aiming to re-establish the normal conditions of the flood affected people in Derna and other regions. Over the period of one month, the project will deliver 1000 Hot Meals daily for 1000 Households still living in makeshift camps and other public facilities.

The project is the outcome of the generous support from our donors; Action Medeor, Aktion Deutschland Hilft and Lions Clubs International Foundation.

The UN and other humanitarian partners estimate that more than 43,000 people remain displaced inside the country, including 16,000 in Derna. The humanitarian toll on the region was huge and unprecedented. 4345 people have been reported dead and more than 8500 people missing.
