ART EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM TO BRING EMERGING SYRIAN AND TURKISH ARTIST TOGETHER


A series of 8 workshops were held by art professionals including art managers, academics, curators, thinkers, art critic in Kadikoy. Aim of the workshops and talks were to bring emerging Syrian and Turkish artists together to discuss the challenges and ways to deal with the art scene and system in Turkey, and inform them regarding their rights and Exchange their experiences. The workshops introduced participants to the art scene of Turkey,how to apply for art residency programs, how to bind their art books, photography workshops, portfolio presentations, and a walk around art workshops in Yeldeğirmeni (Kadikoy).

In general, all those who participated in the event mentioned about how productive the sessions were. In particular, Syrian artists mentioned that it was a good opportunity for them to engage with other Turkish artists and learn from their experiences about how to Access the art spaces of Istanbul to promote their work. In total, these workshop sessions resulted in a participation of 145 attendees.
