As part of the project that is coordinated by International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation (IBC) and supported by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), “the portraits of Syrian Children Photo Exhibition” opened in Gaziantep City Library Exhibition Hall on Monday April 2015, with the participation of massive crowd. Gaziantep deputy Governor Cemalettin Özdemir, International Blue Crescent (IBC) Foundation board president Recep Üker, vice president Muzaffer Baca, Gaziantep Afad Director Sinan Atakan, Gaziantep city Culture and Tourism Director Ergün Özuslu, Gaziantep National Education vice Director Vasıf Munis, national and international NGOs’ representatives, Gaziantep locals, IBC field offices coordinators and staff, IBC head quarter coordinators and staff, Syrian children who has the greatest effort on exhibition, attended the opening ceremony.
Before the opening ceremony, young photographer of the exhibition Ece Baca shared her feelings and said “This exhibition became a great experience for me. Taking place in Syrian children’s world was hearth warming. They taught me how outsized imagination they have and it should inspire the adults. Thence, I would like thank all of them for sharing their world with me.
International Blue Crescent Foundation vice president Muzaffer Baca mentioned that “As IBC, we have been working to cover the needs and expectations of people, among all projects we have, our priority is always the children. Today, we are here for the photo exhibition that is created through the perspective of Syrian children. We are feeling their sorrow deeply and we exist for them.
Finally, deputy governor Cemalettin Özdemir delivered a speech and said that “This exhibition, which gathers us today is highly important, because in crisis time periods, children are the ones who are affected the most. For this reason, all activities done, all steps taken places big values. I would like to use this opportunity and thank all IBC staff for all they do for our Syrian guests. NGOs like IBC make our work easier as well.
Following the delivered speeches, opening ceremony of the exhibition took place. The exhibition was performed between 27-30 April 2015 in Gaziantep City Library Exhibition Hall.
