INTERNATIONAL BLUE CRESCENT CONTRIBUTION TO THE NEEDS OF HEALTH CENTERS IN VAN


Tent camps erected after the devastating earthquake in Van last year evacuated and replaced by container camps where erathquake victims moved. 
 
In Van province 32 container camps now accomodating more than 170000 people.
 
Container camps  established in   Anadolu, Haci Mehmet, Serhat, Kale, Tahir Pasa, Sampiyon, Van Golu, Urartu, Tusba, Erek, Husrev Pasa, Kaya Celebi, Faki Teyran, Ahmedi Hani, Semame, Akdamar, Carpanak, Huzur and Samran areas where the damage was significant.
Upon request of Van  Health Department, IBC launched a campaign to provide medicine and medical appliances.Italian donors contributed to the campaign.
 
Medical materials and medicine for the need of eight health clinics in the center and villages delivered the first week of June to Van and submitted to the Regional Health Department.
 
Relevant submission document have been signed between IBC Representative and the officials of the Department.
As an additional activity ,IBC team  visited Husrev pasa and Kale container camps’ health centers and delivered the medicine and medical materials directly to them.
 
Doctors and nurses of the health centers stated the urgent needs  and reminded that after the earthquake the yare running from basic medicine due to the mass application of the local people.
 
IBC will continue its campaign to provide more support and will monitor the situation closely for any additional urgent needs.
