ESNET PROJECT Initial Meeting was held in Romania, Eforie
at Dobrogea Seismological Observatory on 26th March 2012.
Turkey IPA Implementing Partner IBC Participated the Initial Meeting of ESNET Project
The Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme 2007-2013 is a programme under the European Neighborhood & Partnership Instrument (ENPI) of the EU. It aims to contribute to: “a stronger and sustainable economic and social development of the regions of the Black Sea Basin”.
The programme´s three specific objectives, are:
· Promoting economic and social development in the border areas
· Working together to address common challenges
· Promoting local, people-to-people cooperation
And Earthquake Safety Net(work) ESNET Project was developed to serve these objectives under the Multi Partnership Project Implementation of Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova to contribute to the prevention of natural disasters generated by earthquakes in Black Sea basin by developing a joint monitoring and intervention concept in Black Sea.
In this manner the Project Initial Meeting was organized in Romania, Eforie at Dobrogea Seismological Observatory on 26th March 2012. The meeting was organized by ENPI Partner National Institute for Earth Physics. Participants were Turkish IPA Implementing Project Partner International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation, Romanian ENPI Project Partner National Institute of Research and Development for Earth Physics, Bulgarian Project Partner Geophysical Institute of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Moldavian Project Partner, Geology and Seismology Institute of Moldavian Academy of Sciences
In the meeting some of the objectives that had been made definite :
“the validity of the assumptions in the project logical framework, the feasibility of the activities and results in the project logical framework, Country Assessments schedules, objectives and materials, creation visual identity for the Project (logo, slogan, templates etc.).”
End of the meeting it was decided to held the Country Assessment Meetings respectively in Moldova Kishinev (2012 April 11, 12), Romania Bucharest (2012 May 3,4), Turkey Istanbul (2012 May 10,11) and Bulgaria Varna(2012 May 30, 31). The other Project activities will be calendared in each Country visit and will be implemented within the Project Period in 24 months.
From Turkey the Technical Project Personnel, Nalan UKER (IBC Project Coordinator) and Asst.Prof.Kubilay KAPTAN (IAU AFAM Disaster Education Application and Research Center Director) participated the meeting.
