“HAND IN HAND” YOUTH WORKSHOPS


International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Conflict Management Program continues to bring together Turkish and Syrian refugees to ensure unity and social cohesion. The project, which launched in 2015, is funded by European Union and is implemented by United Nations International Organization of Migration in partnership with International Blue Crescent Foundation.

 

Within the scope of the Conflict Management Program, workshops were organized for Fatih Anadolu Imam Hatip Girl High School students. A total of 62 youngesters were reached in 3 training sessions conducted by IBC trainers by applying non-formal education methods. Students participated in group activities with Syrian and other foreign peers they studied in the same school and developed common understanding. A healthy communication environment has been provided to strengthen the friendship among students. The conflict management and mediation skills of the participants were improved with different group activities. A group discussion, Roleplay and effective conflict management tools applied at the workshop to develop empathy and conflict management skills, build positive mindset. In today's conditions, the difficulties that the Syrians have experienced in the society have been discussed. Students have developed solutions in order to strengthen social cohesion and expressed that they will give away the outputs of the workshop in their surroundings through as young individuals. Participants thanked the IBC for organizing such a study by stating that many of the prejudices they used to have had been destroyed by this study.

 

International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation, which is based in Turkey, has been carrying out Humanitarian Aid Activities in different regions of the world. Since the day it was established, United Nations and International Aid Organizations have signed hundreds of Relief and Development projects. In the national dimension, the foundation carries out projects to meet the needs of Syrian refugees in Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Kilis, Konya, Bursa and Istanbul. The Blue Crescent Foundation also conducts a Community Center Project in Sultanbeyli, where a women-friendly center for women in municipal co-operation and vocational training courses and social integration activities are carried out.
