October 29, Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in Sultanbeyli as it was in the whole country. Event was organized by International Blue Crescent Sultanbeyli and Sancaktepe project offices in cooperation with the Refugees Association. The theme of the celebration, which touches everyone from all ages, was “Republic and Living Together”.
Poetry recitals, briefing on values of Republic and concert took place in the 2-hour program. Turkish language student Abdulhamid Kassab from Refugees Association, read Turkish national anthem “İstiklal Marşı” poetry. Blue Crescent Foundation Program Coordinator Ömer Kaya pointed out the Republican values and the inclusive role of the republic system for the integration of migrants. Following the speech, the program continued with the concert. Mood Band, a band of immigrant Syrian artists, presented the audience with a repertoire of Turkish and Arabic melodies. Thanks to the universal language of music, our cultural riches and similarities were once again recognized.
In addition, a painting exhibition titled “Republic from the Eyes of Children” was presented to the audience. Immigrant children expressed their meaning for the republic and for themselves with their paintings. The great works of small hands reflected the love and belief of children in the republic.
