MOROCCO EARTHQUAKE IBC SITUATION REPORT


Fourteen days have passed since a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit central Morocco, High Atlas Mountains, southwest of Marrakesh city, the most powerful earthquake in a century to strike Morocco. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake’s depth was 18.5 km, affecting al-Haouz, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua and Taroudant. Hundreds of aftershocks were recorded, the strongest reaching up to 5.9 magnitude.
