With each passing day the World’s population increases causing overconsumption of the earth’s resources. Moreover, wrong agricultural practices, wrong irrigation techniques and many other factors are leading to drought. The increase in this type of wrong practices is leading to the deterioration of the soil structure in our country and increasing the sensitivity of soil to drought. Hence, our country is one of the most affected countries by drought and desertification. Within this context, the International Blue Crescent Relief and Development foundation facilitated an activity in IBC Memory forest on 18/06/2019 under the title. “The world is a real value, let us appreciate it”. 30 children took part in the activity. The beneficiaries were transported to the IBC Forest, where the activity was held.
At the beginning of the activity, the facilitator explained to the children the loss that is resulting from desertification and drought, and its effects on the environmental system and forests. He also explained the methods of combating desertification, such as watering forests and areas hit by drought. Then, the children watered the IBC Forest’s trees and were pleased that they contributed to combating desertification and protecting the environment.
At the end of activity, children expressed their wish to visit the IBC Forest regularly.
