ISTANBUL AYDIN UNIVERSITY TÖMER TURKISH LANGUAGE COURSES
FEBRUARY 2019 - AUGUST 2019
The last step of the Multi-Purpose Development Centers Project is İAÜ TÖMER Turkish language courses for Syrians under Temporary Protection. The Syrian youth attended the Turkish Courses under the guidance of TÖMER's experienced instructors at Istanbul Aydın University. By attending the courses, young Syrians develop themselves in 4 areas (reading, writing, listening and speaking) within the syllabus based on the European language portfolio. Participants who pass the final exams are qualified to receive TÖMER Certificate. Thanks to the language courses project, Syrian young people under Temporary Protection have the opportunity to continue their school life, as well as to eliminate the language barrier which is one of the biggest barriers to social cohesion. This component of the project started in February 2019. Until June 2019, 620 young Syrians had the chance to take 3 courses of Turkish language courses. In this phase of the project, young Syrians under temporary protection participated in various personal development seminars and their development was supported by legal awareness seminars.
